NOTE:
- While the full salary for the SAP Functional Analyst position is $102,323.00 to $163,451.08 annually, the anticipated hiring range is $120,000.00 to $135,000.00 annually dependent upon qualifications and experience.
- The hiring range for the Senior SAP Functional Analyst is $112,555.04 to $179,796.24 annually.
- Senior SAP Functional Analyst Requirements:
- At least 4 years of general accounting experience and Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in SAP participating in complex financial software projects, supporting major financial functions, analyzing financial business processes, supporting users, conducting testing, preferably in upgrades or implementations
- Senior SAP Functional Analyst Requirements:
- While this position may be eligible for career progression, the county anticipates hiring this position as an SAP Functional Analyst.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF JOB:
This position serves as part of a closely knit team that is responsible for the functional management of the County’s SAP S4HANA Financial, Payroll and HR system, including FICO, GL, SL, FA, CJ, PS, SRM, MM/IM, AP, AR, PY, HR, BN PA, OM and MSS/ESS. Due to the highly complex, integrated nature of the system and its importance to the County, members of this team must demonstrate a high level of teamwork, communication, professionalism, and interpersonal skills as well as self-direction and technical and general accounting skills.
DUTIES:
- Works hands-on in the functionality and operations as an integral member of a small, highly professional and dedicated team of SAP functional analysts supporting a wide variety of SAP modules as listed above.
- Provides subject matter expertise, functional support and business process ownership in assigned process areas/modules, including break/fix, enhancements, patches, upgrades, monitoring testing and training as well as troubleshooting, investigating, analyzing, solving and implementing solutions for configuration and transactional issues.
- Increases knowledge continually in SAP and related fields by leveraging all available resources – peers, publications, professional organizations, support groups, SAP documentation, training, webinars and other resources.
- Responds to moderately complex SAP support questions, troubleshooting business transactions, master data, workflow, security, reports and other issues, coordinating the more complex issues with other team members.
- Analyzes requirements for financial business processes by gathering information from user departments, analyzing the financial business needs, documenting an accurate understanding of the issue, diagraming process flow and mapping the business requirements to SAP functionality, including consideration for security and internal control issues.
- Helps develop training concepts, plans, materials and seeded data for training and helps deliver training to end-users on new and ongoing functionality.
- Recommends and may design, develop/configure and test system and procedural internal controls and security roles to ensure proper audit compliance and segregation of duties.
- Creates and maintains test plans for unit, integration, system, regression, security and internal control testing of the SAP financial, payroll and HCM system and coordinate testing with end users.
- Researches and provides guidance, strategic plans and direction for assigned functional areas.
- Assists or manages the SAP functional team portion of Countywide, Finance Dept. or team initiatives, efforts, projects and reporting requirements development.
- Establishes and maintains healthy working relationships with key business users at all levels Countywide, especially in Finance, HR, IT and Treasurer’s Office.
REQUIREMENTS:
Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
- Required working knowledge of SAP functional configuration, best practices and process integration of at least 2 of the major functional areas or modules in SAP.
- Experience in SAP implementations, upgrades, patches or implementations of new functionalities in a leading role or with major responsibilities and participation.
- Working knowledge of accounting practices and processes such as accounts payable, fixed assets, inventory, auditing, budget monitoring, purchasing, cash receipting, account reconciliation, project and grant accounting, general ledger, internal controls, human resources and payroll functions.
- Strong working knowledge of and ability to understand and analyze transactional data, workflow and data integration within financial systems and develop appropriate recommended solutions.
- Strong skills in recognizing, investigating, and analyzing a variety of financial, operational, technical and administrative problems and the ability to develop and analyze alternatives and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Required ability to work accurately, independently and as an interactive, cooperative team member in a timely and organized manner under deadlines.
- Required ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and to establish and maintain good working relationships with various levels of staff.
- Required ability and willingness to develop and share creative ideas, knowledge and experience with other team member with corresponding ability and willingness to learn from others.

- Required ability to exercise independent judgment while also knowing when to seek advice in difficult, complex or sensitive matters.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field
- At least 4 years of general accounting experience
- Any equivalent combination of education and work experience that satisfy the requirements of the job may be considered.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in SAP supporting major financial functions, supporting users, conducting testing, or doing configuration preferably in upgrades or implementations.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Experience in a Public Sector environment.
- Experience in financial business process improvement with Visio or other graphical presentation software used to document business processes.
- Training in SAP financial modules and in internal control design.
Pre-Employment Additional Requirements:
- Must successfully pass pre-employment testing which includes an acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR) and background check.
- Possession of a valid Class “R” Colorado Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within two weeks of appointment.
Post-Employment Requirements:
- Successful completion of bi-annual Colorado Justice Information System (CJIS) training.
- Must occasionally be able to work nights and weekends
- Work locations and facilities are subject to change based on business need.
