GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF JOB:

A Print Services Coordinator is a lead level technical classification position performing multiple technical duties associated with the print shop production and copying of print-related materials for all County departments. This position requires advanced technical knowledge of multiple document formats, which includes but is not limited to, hard copy, Adobe InDesign, Xerox Freeflow and Microsoft Office Professional; and uses these tools to manipulate and create electronic formatted documents for County print orders. Furthermore, this position assists the Print Services Manager with daily staff and all production requirements.

DUTIES:

  • Operates various color and black and white production copiers to produce orders for all County departments. This includes high-speed scanners and associated copier equipment/software.
  • Proficient in preparing digital electronic design files using all aspects of FreeFlow, InDesign, Microsoft Office and Adobe software and transfer print order to appropriate equipment using standard network procedures. Have the ability to edit and insert needed documentation, photos, charts, graphs into materials maintained in Print Services department document libraries on the shared network.
  • Uses the online ordering system to create, produce and deliver printed material. Also, maintain customer orders and accounts, when required. When system problems occur Coordinate with Information Technology staff to resolve the issue(s).
  • Ability to operate bindery finishing equipment such as paper drill, numbering machine, bookbinder, saddle stitcher, spiral binders, paper cutter and folding machine.
  • Using printing industry knowledge, assists customers with facilitating job order requests, and daily customer service.
  • Prepares completed job order for delivery.
  • Ability to maintain and make minor repairs to copiers and other bindery finishing equipment. When necessary, may contact vendor for maintenance.
  • Works in conjunction with Arapahoe County Departments and Elected Offices to produce election, notice of valuation and tax notice projects annually, and schedules of activities in conjunction with these projects. This includes attending all meeting associated with each project.
  • Maintains a safe and organized area at all times.
  • Provides input for weekly management reports.
  • Maintains a cost-conscious approach to all aspects of Print Services departmental functions.
  • The knowledge of being able to maintain minimal inventory, place orders, and use computer software in the tracking and scheduling of print orders and supplies as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

  • The ability to use and program high-speed production copiers, scanners, digital scanners. Ability to program equipment to transfer files, data, and information while using the latest printing software available. Competent with photo quality copying to obtain the highest level of quality to include halftones,
  • full color copies, transparencies, enlargements and reductions.
  • The ability to access stored data files and have the ability to create folders, send stored data to appropriate equipment, add and delete material from files as needed. Should be familiar with network folders, shared drives, CD Rom and USB flash drives, and also be able to load, transfer and delete information.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with other print shop and county employees requesting print jobs.
  • The ability to use office equipment, such as computer, ruler, calculator, paper drill, paper cutter, and numbering machine. Operator must have a complete understanding of industry standards in regards to paper sizes, weights, textures, capacities, qualities, and the uses of paper products in the printing industry.
  • Ability to use any equipment related to the printing function using specialized training from vendors, manufactures and/or distributors.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Graduation or GED equivalent
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of print shop experience using a wide range of production copiers, both color and black and white, scanners, photo transfer, data retrieval and transfer, and current printing software.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and work experience that satisfy the requirements of the job will be considered.

 

Pre-Employment Additional Requirements:
Must successfully pass pre-employment testing which includes an acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR) and background check.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work is performed in a standard printing industry environment.
  • Subject to continuous loud noise levels.
  • Work involves frequent exposure to moving machinery parts and paper cutting blades.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The following are some of the physical demands commonly associated with this position.

  • Spends 10% of the time sitting and 90% of the time either standing or walking.
  • Occasionally lifts, carries, pulls or pushes up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasionally uses cart, dolly, or other equipment to carry in excess of 50 lbs.
