NOTE:

  • The full salary for the Onboarding and Benefits Specialist position is $26.58 to $39.88 hourly, dependent upon qualifications and experience.
  • While this position may be eligible for career progression, we are only hiring this position at the Onboarding and Benefits Specialist level.
  • The full hiring range for the Benefits Specialist is $66,010.10 to $99,015.02 annually, dependent upon qualifications and experience.  
    • Benefits Specialist Additional Requirements: 
      • Bachelors Degree

      • 5 years of benefits administration experience. 

      • A combination of education and experience may be considered. 

 

  

               

 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF JOB:

The Onboarding and Benefits Specialist works to streamline and oversee the onboarding process for new hires into the County, including, new hire orientation, I-9 document collection, benefits education, new hire benefit elections, introduction to County policies, County badge obtainment, location.

DUTIES:

  • Oversees and conducts New Employee Orientation for all new county employees.
  • Answers new hire onboarding questions and provides direction.
  • Provides new hire benefits education.
  • Ensures all pre-hire paperwork is complete, including background check and I-9.
  • Processes enrollments for new hires and backs up Benefits on processing Life Event benefit changes.
  • Oversees the administration of benefits plans and vendor relationships for assigned plans.
  • Participates in all Open Enrollment preparation activities: communications, benefits fairs, kiosks, system testing, etc.
  • Performs audits and analysis on enrollment and utilization to ensure program cost effectiveness.

REQUIREMENTS:

Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

  • Technical Skills: HCM functional experience as it relates to onboarding and benefits administration. Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office applications, to include word, excel, and power point.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and effectively to all levels of employees, both verbally and written. Must be able to identify audience and modify communication style as appropriate.
  • Customer Service Skills: Strong follow up and responsiveness skills. Ability to identify priority situations and adjust accordingly. (flexibility)
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to identify patterns/trends within data and evaluate possible courses of action based on the data.

 Education and Experience:

  • Associate’s degree
  • At least 2 years of benefit administration experience
  • At least 2 years of employee onboarding or customer service experience
  • Any equivalent combination of education and work experience that satisfy the requirements of the job will be considered. 

 

Pre-Employment Additional Requirements:
Must successfully pass pre-employment testing which includes an acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR) and background check.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is generally confined to a standard office environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
