GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF JOB:

The Elections Ambassador - Temp seeks to engage members of the public through voter registration and voter outreach. Ambassadors will be responsible for assisting people with registering to vote and answering questions about the voting process. Ideal candidates are highly organized, thrive off person-to-person contact and are passionate about community engagement.

Ambassadors can expect there to be between two and six outreach events per month lasting a duration of two to four hours per event anywhere in Arapahoe County. The events may take place in the evening and on weekends. Ambassadors must have reliable and consistent transportation to travel to and between different locations to conduct site-based outreach and are expected to arrive on time.

DUTIES:

  • Conduct voter outreach through voter registration, voter education and encouraging voters to get out and vote
  • Complete quality control and data tracking as well as responsible handling of voter engagement materials and forms in line with compliance practice and training
  • Provide accurate civic engagement information about signing up to vote and elections
  • Confidently represent the Arapahoe County Clerk and Recorder’s Office at in-person events across Arapahoe County and engage with community members and stakeholders to represent Arapahoe County and increase civic engagement
  • Reach monthly goals for voter registration and engagement
  • Communicate regularly with the Community Services Manager

REQUIREMENTS:

Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

  • Possess excellent communication skills
  • Be passionate about community engagement
  • Be culturally competent and inclusive
  • Be comfortable sharing accurate information to help the community be more civically engaged
  • Have reliable transportation
  • Be able to work at an event on their feet for up to four consecutive hours
  • Be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends

 

Education and Experience:  

  • High School or GED required
  • Fluent in English, bilingual or multilingual is a plus

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ year of voter registration experience
  • Experience attending Naturalization Ceremonies

 

Pre-Employment Additional Requirements:

  • Must successfully pass pre-employment testing which includes an acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR) and background check. 
  • Possession of a valid Class “R” Colorado Driver’s License and reliable transportation.  

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work environment is generally public-facing community event settings across Arapahoe County, requiring frequent interaction with diverse members of the public at outreach events held at various indoor and outdoor locations, including evenings and weekends. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The following are some of the physical demands commonly associated with this position.

  • Spends 70% of the time sitting and 30% of the time either standing or walking.
  • Frequently lifts, carries, pulls or pushes up to 40 lbs.
  • Occasionally uses cart, dolly, or other equipment to carry in excess of 50 lbs.
  • Occasionally climbs, stoops, kneels, balances, reaches, crawls and crouches while performing office or work duties.
  • Verbal and auditory capacity enabling constant interpersonal communication through automated devices, such as telephones, radios, and similar; and in public meetings and personal interactions.
  • Constant use of eye, hand and finger coordination enabling the use of automated office machinery or equipment.
  • Visual capacity enabling constant use of computer or other work-related equipment.
