GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF JOB:

This position will assist with the administrative support of diversion programming at the Office of the District Attorney.  This work focuses on a supporting diversion efforts through internal processes and procedure compliance.

This position is temporary and part-time.  Must be able to make a commitment of at least twenty (20) hours per week.

DUTIES:

  • Duties include, but are not limited to case identification, generating and tracking communication, creating and using templates and other documents, tracking progress, outreach to participants if needed, and coordinating with partner agencies.
  • Projects will involve navigating multiple online systems and analysis of large amounts of information. Applicants must have strong organizational skills and be confident in their computer skills

REQUIREMENTS:

Detail-oriented – Intern will be assigned projects that require a strong attention to facts and specifics.  Critical reading and writing will be necessary skills.

Strong communicator and multi-tasker – The office is a dynamic environment where many items can be happening at once.  An ability to be articulate under pressure and juggle multiple tasks at a time is critical.

Professional – With the nature of the office, professionalism in demeanor and discretion will be paramount.

Self-starter and can see projects to completion with little supervision.

 An eagerness to learn about the criminal justice system and administrative responsibilities.

Proficiency in standard office software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint Computer skills

EDUCATION:  Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student.

EXPERIENCE:  Previous experience in an office environment would be beneficial but is not required.

Pre-Employment Additional Requirements:

  • Must successfully pass pre-employment testing which includes an acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR) and background check.
  • Possession of a valid Class “R” Colorado Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within two weeks of appointment.
  • Security clearance required: will require fingerprinting and a Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) background check

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is generally confined to a standard office environment and requires no more than normal physical abilities. Once mastery of the work is demonstrated this role may be allowed to work half of their hours from home.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Spends 90% of the time sitting and 10% of the time either standing or walking.
  • Occasionally lifts, carries, pulls or pushes up to 20 lbs.
  • Occasionally uses cart, dolly, or other equipment to carry in excess of 20 lbs.
  • Occasionally climbs, stoops, kneels, balances, reaches, crawls and crouches while performing office or work duties.
  • Verbal and auditory capacity enabling constant interpersonal communication through automated devices, such as telephones, radios, and similar; and in public meetings and personal interactions.
  • Constant use of eye, hand and finger coordination enabling the use of automated office machinery or equipment.
  • Visual capacity enabling constant use of computer or other work-related equipment.
